The prosecutor’s office has launched an investigation into irregularities at TVP. Romaszewska-Guzy comments

Telewizja Polska reported on Wednesday afternoon that the prosecutor’s office had initiated an investigation into a report submitted a few days earlier. It was supposed to concern financial irregularities, failure to fulfill obligations and exceeding authority.

On Monday, July 8, we reported on the notification submitted to the prosecutor’s office by TVP. The public broadcaster confirmed that it was about the former management of Telewizja Belsat, whose director was Agnieszka Romaszewska-Guzy until recently. On that day, the Polish Television Information Center issued a statement justifying the aforementioned decision. “The crime was supposed to consist in the failure to fulfill duties and exceeding authority by persons holding managerial positions, who jointly and in agreement ordered IT services. These services either cannot be identified – there is no trace of their performance, or their prices were several dozen times overstated and economically unjustified” – we read in the first statement by TVP. As a result of these actions, Telewizja Polska was supposed to suffer a financial loss of at least PLN 7 million.

Less than two weeks after the notification was filed, Telewizja Polska issued another statement. This time, it announced the initiation of an investigation by the District Prosecutor’s Office in Warsaw. The statement states that the case concerns “causing TVP SA in the liquidation of property damage on a large scale in the years 2018-2024 by persons dealing with its property matters.”

Agnieszka Romaszewska-Guzy comments

The prosecutor’s decision was commented on by the former head of Belsat TV Romaszewska-Guzy on the X website: “The machine continues to work. The prosecutor’s office launched an investigation following a report by TVP regarding alleged abuses at Belsat TV… Of course, the investigation is currently ongoing ‘in the case’ and it is not yet known whether and against whom any charges will be brought, but once again my name appears in a TVP statement… This whole grim circus means that Mr. (Minister of Justice, Prosecutor General Adam) Bodnar’s club has been raised over my head this time.”
