Fortunately, I haven’t had any negative reactions from fans who can’t tell the difference between the character and the actor. I think we’re at a different stage as a society. When Jack Gleeson played Joffrey, social media wasn’t as popular, which made it harder for people to separate the actor from the character. Today, we’re so technologically advanced, it’s easier to show what happens when the camera isn’t rolling, that the distinction between the character and the actor is more within reach. I think people are getting over it – or at least I hope they are – he said optimistically.
Unfortunately, although Tom Glynn-Carney himself has not experienced hate, his co-star has been much less fortunate.
