It can also come from the Old French word “aveline”, which is a diminutive of the word avis (bird). This name appeared in the Middle Ages, and has been present in Poland since the 19th century. Name days are celebrated in Poland on May 26 and December 24. Diminutives include: Ewelinka, Ewelinuś, Ewelinek, Ewa, Ewusia, Ewel, Linusia, Ewela. In other languages, Ewelina is, for example, Evelin or Evelina.
