Pour into a jug and pour in water. There is no better drink for hot weather. Cools down instantly

There is no need to remind anyone that taking care of hydration is crucial for the proper functioning of the body and our well-being. This is especially important in the summer. What to drink in the heat and what is the best hydration for the body? Water is not the only solution.

When the heat is oppressive, we try to improve our comfort and cool down our bodies at all costs. We also remember to hydrate. Most experts agree that a healthy adult should drink around 1.5-2 litres of fluids every day. On a hot day, this number can even double, to 4-5 litres a day. When we sweat, we release heat and cool our bodies, but along with water, we also excrete electrolytes, i.e. sodium, chlorine and potassium ions. That is why it is so important to both drink enough water and replenish losses. What is the best way to hydrate your body in the heat?

In the summer, we drink not only water, pure or with fresh fruit, but also drinks, lemonades, iced teas, fruit juices and compotes. We are also more willing to reach for soups, especially cold soups. What to drink in the heat and when it is hot? You can also successfully reach for herbal infusions. Which ones? It is best to choose those that have cooling properties.

  • Mint. Although it is associated with stomach ailments, it is ideal for hot weather. You can drink both infusions and throw fresh leaves into water.
  • Lemon balm. It has a cooling, yet calming and soothing effect.
  • Chamomile. It will help hydrate the body, for indigestion and excessive sweating.

TIP! In addition to herbal infusions, you can also drink green tea or rooibos, which are perfect for the summer, during the heat. You don’t have to wait for the tea to cool down. You can brew it cold. Pour boiling water over 2-3 tablespoons, then put it in a jug and pour cold water over it. Put it in the fridge for at least 2-3 hours.

What is the best hydration and thirst quencher in hot weather? Not necessarily water

You can hydrate your body most effectively with drinks that contain a lot of sodium and potassium. Contrary to appearances, this is not water at all, but orange juice or… milk. So it’s worth reaching for them. Orange slices thrown into a glass of water or freshly squeezed juice are a great way to replenish fluids and electrolytes, but not the only one. Water with honey, lemon juice and a pinch of salt, coconut water (preferably from fresh coconut), and even pickled cucumber water also work great. Remember to only take electrolytes, especially those containing large amounts of elements, after consulting your doctor or dietitian.
