Some time ago, there was a lot of talk about finding prom dates by posting ads online. It turns out that the same thing happens with weddings. Many people can’t imagine attending an event like this without a companion. That’s why they start looking. They usually use dating apps or social media.
Martyna: We had quite a good conversation, but we lost contact.
As Martyna, a 25-year-old from Warsaw, reveals, she found out about this option from her friends. One of them created an account on a popular dating app. In her description, she indicated that she was looking for a companion to a wedding. She quickly found a partner. Martyna did the same last year. She decided to take this step because of bad experiences from the past. – Three years ago, I showed up at my cousin’s wedding. I was the only one without a companion. I didn’t care at all. However, during the party, it turned out how much of a problem it is for some people – says our interviewee.
One of the men, whom Martyna had not met before, began asking her why she was single. “It was very unpleasant. I had to explain my life situation to him. The guy clearly made it clear to me that I was worse because I didn’t have a partner,” she recalls.
Last year, before her friend’s wedding, Martyna decided she didn’t want to spoil the fun again. She found her companion on Tinder. She paid 500 PLN for the company. And as she emphasizes, she doesn’t regret this decision. – At least I had peace during the party. I honestly admit that I had a great time. No one asked me why I was alone. I introduced Maciek from Tinder as my friend. We got along quite well, but after the party we lost touch – she ends her story.

Lidka posted an ad on Facebook. “It wasn’t a good idea”
Lidka, a 33-year-old from Lublin, however, does not have good experiences in this matter. – A week before my sister’s wedding, I broke up with my boyfriend, whom I had been seeing for four months. I was devastated, but I decided to quickly find someone to accompany me. I wrote about it on one of the city’s Facebook groups. Several men responded. I chose the one I found the most attractive and went on a date with him – she recalls.
However, during the party it turned out that it wasn’t a good idea. – For him it was a date, and I didn’t treat it that way. In the ad I clearly stated that I was only interested in the company at the wedding. Besides, it turned out in person that I didn’t like him at all and that he had strange views. He said some crazy things. I regret going out with him, because it ruined my fun to a large extent. If I could turn back time, I would go alone – sums up Lidka.
