Kasia was in a children’s home. Officials gave her an apartment with falling plaster and no installations.

Mrs. Kasia is a 20-year-old from Oleśnica, who lived in a children’s home for several years. Recently, the woman received a flat from the city that requires a general renovation. For the whole thing, she would have to pay over one hundred thousand zlotys. The case was publicized in the program “Uwaga!” TVN.

After leaving the children’s home, Ms. Katarzyna Kotlarz received an apartment from the city that she must renovate. It is a place with falling plaster and no installations. The renovation work was estimated at 120 thousand zlotys. The woman has only a year to collect this amount. If she fails, officials will take away her right to live in this place.

“I would have to save for about 10 years”

Mrs. Kasia’s situation is therefore very difficult. Firstly, she has no one to live with. Secondly, collecting a huge sum of money for renovation seems to be an impossible task. – I earn 3 thousand zlotys a month. Of that, I have to pay 700 zlotys for a sheltered apartment, 230 zlotys for school. That leaves me with about 1000 zlotys for living, so I would have to save for about 10 years – she confessed in the program “Uwaga!” TVN.

Clerk: In my opinion, Kasia received information

Currently, the 20-year-old rents a room in a so-called sheltered apartment. She can stay there until the end of her education. For this reason, she submitted an application for the allocation of premises from the city. It turns out that the officials immediately forwarded to Ms. Kasia an application for an apartment to be renovated. They did not even inform her about other options. – They gave me the papers. Everything was ready. They helped me fill them out – she revealed.

Why did the officials offer the woman this particular option? – In my opinion, Kasia received information. It was her decision and no one suggested anything to her. Everything we do, we do for the benefit of children in foster care – said Beata Krzesińska, director of the District Family Assistance Center in Oleśnica, in an interview with a TVN reporter. Ms. Kasia claims, however, that no one offered her a renovated apartment.

Help for Mrs. Kasia has started

The 20-year-old’s problems were reported to an association that helps people in need. Her story sparked a lot of interest on social media. The woman was helped by volunteers who provided her with building materials. In turn, thanks to the intervention of TVN reporters at the officials’ office, a cleaning team entered the apartment. A fundraiser was also set up to collect money for the renovation of the premises.
