He quit acting 14 years ago, now he got an award. He talks about loneliness openly

When Marek Kondrat announced the end of his acting career in 2007, his fans held their breath for a moment. Although the actor has not appeared in any new productions since 2010, he received an award at a festival a few days ago.

After many years of working in front of the camera, in 2010 Marek Kondrat decided to retire from acting. He first mentioned ending his career in 2007, but later got involved in several other projects. Saying goodbye to cinema was not easy, especially for the actor’s fans, who still fondly remember him for his role as director in the film “Nothing Funny” and Mieczysław Klonisz in “Kiler”. Over the years Marek Kondrat has appeared both on the big screen and in the Television Theatre and the Stanisław Wyspiański Silesian Theatre in Katowice and the Dramatic Theatre in Warsaw.

Although Marek Kondrat officially retired from acting years ago, he still takes part in festivals dedicated to Polish film production. At the end of June, the actor appeared at the 21st Extraordinary Films-Meetings Festival in Sandomierz, where, together with Marek Koterski, he received the Sandomierz Crown for the Extraordinary Director. This is one of many awards that the actor has received for his artistic achievements. In the past, Marek Kondrat has also received three Golden Lions and an Eagle for the best male role in “Dzień Świra”.

Last year, the actor told Jolanta Kwaśniewska and Jakub Bączek about loneliness, which is one of the issues raised in his book. “I try to be wittier than I am by nature. I prefer time spent with a book or chess, which I play passionately, because they clearly provoke good quality loneliness… It is an astonishing aspect of our human nature that man is afraid of loneliness, and on the other hand very often condemns himself to it,” the actor stated.
