Many homes will be inspected. Not only photovoltaic panels are in the crosshairs. They may use a drone

Tauron Dystrybucja announces a second round of inspections. This time, they will check not only prosumer photovoltaic installations, but also energy storage facilities. In total, energy engineers are to assess about 1,600 installations that operate in the group’s distribution network.

Similar inspections were carried out in 2023 and revealed over 3,000 cases of exceeding capacity and 13,000 cases of excessive voltage. During the second round of this year’s inspection, energy engineers will also look at energy storage facilities, because there are already about 6,000 of them in the entire network.

Tauron Dystrybucja inspections have started. “Our goal is, above all, to ensure safety”

Exceeding the voltage or power of photovoltaic panels can be dangerous, hence the increased inspections of prosumers. Other detected irregularities in the operation of micro-installations were illegal changes to measurement systems and removal of seals from meters.

The controllers also have a new tool, because they can take pictures of the entire installation using a drone. However, before this happens, they must inform the prosumer. – Inspections of micro-installations and energy storage facilities are just one of the tools the company uses to improve the efficiency and flexibility of the grid. (…) Our goal is primarily to ensure security and equal access to the power grid for all our customers – said Marcin Marzyński, Vice President of the Management Board of Tauron Dystrybucja for Customer Affairs.

Photovoltaic installation inspections. Not only photovoltaic panels will be targeted

This year, inspections will also cover energy storage facilities. The program is a pilot, so energy engineers will not inform about them in advance, but will only select random customers. – The purpose of the warehouse inspections is to ensure the safety of work on the network for the company’s employees. We want to avoid repeating situations when, during the work of electricians, voltage appears on the network due to the work of storage facilities that do not have appropriate overvoltage protection – explained Marcin Marzyński. If they find irregularities, they present a repair plan that the prosumer should follow. If you’d like, please vote in our poll below.
