is considered one of the largest, if not the largest, music events in Poland, organized continuously for over 20 years. Each edition attracts thousands of listeners to the Gdynia-Kosakowo airport, both from Poland and from around the world, who want to listen to the greatest hits of their idols live. This year’s edition will be no different, which will take place from July 3 to 6, 2024.
Opener Festival. What changes are coming to road traffic? You can’t enter here by car without a special identifier
Festival goers have been flocking to Gdynia and the surrounding area for a few days now. If you are one of them, before you start enjoying yourself and having fun, plan your travel to the event and back to your accommodation. As reported by the Gdynia Roads and Greenery Authority, there will be major changes in the organization of public transport during the Open’er days, which is worth keeping in mind.
For example, on Janka Wiśniewskiego Street, the cyclist lanes will be closed to traffic, replaced by a lane for city buses with stops, while taxis have been banned from driving on some sections of the road. Special changes will affect residents of Zielona Street, entry from Płk. Dąbka Street towards the Babie Doły district between 1 p.m. and 5 a.m. will be possible only upon presentation of an identifier, i.e. a so-called vehicle verification entry card. This has been available for collection for several days now upon presentation of the relevant documents.
How to Get to Open’er Festival 2024? The City Created a Bus Line for Partygoers
There will be three entrance gates to the area. These are the main car park, the car park at the campsite for VIPs and media, and the entrance for campers. However, it is worth considering that if the weather changes and there is heavy rainfall, the staff may not let more people in. For this reason, the organizers appeal to those who have the opportunity to leave their vehicles in the city center and use public transport. The city, as in previous years, has prepared itself appropriately for the increased traffic towards the airport. For this reason, around 100 additional buses will be running every day. What’s more, partygoers can use the festival buses completely free of charge, the only condition is to show a ticket, pass or festival wristband. However, this rule does not apply to other transport lines, where payment for travel is based on the price list.
Additional night-time trips have also been planned, which will run to specific districts of Gdynia. All buses from the Open’er Festival line will depart from the stops every few or a dozen minutes, depending on traffic. All practical information and exact departure times of individual buses can be found on the zdiz.gdynia.pl website. If you’d like, please vote in our poll below.
