The old TVP is a thing of the past. A program like this has been missing for years

Evenings on news stations are mainly about journalism and summaries of the day. Satirical programs are also broadcast here and there, attacking a specific side of the political dispute. It was the same on TVP Info, but after the “December revolution” the public broadcaster gave up this type of programs. Instead, a magazine appeared that no one had even dreamed of in recent years, but is absolutely necessary. Especially nowadays.

There was a lot of talk about TVP Info during the so-called good change. For eight years, the then management of the station served viewers with information in the narrative of the ruling United Right. However, some messages were completely omitted, and others were transmitted in a manipulated way.

For almost half a year, politicized public television in Poland has been a thing of the past. However, after changes in the way the station operates, it has seen a huge drop in viewership. This should come as no surprise, because its predecessors spent many years “educating” viewers who believe only in the so-called real Polish news, which TV Republika now presents. Moreover, as they say: it is easier to destroy something than to build it.

TVP Info is rising from its knees. In the evening, instead of mockery, he serves information from around the world

But real public television can defend itself, and viewership should not be the most important thing in its case. I have the impression that this is the assumption now followed by the heads of TVP Info, who are trying to rebuild the reputation of the antenna, which has been used to manipulate public opinion in recent years. Well, the station’s offer now includes many valuable programs that no one would have even dreamed of last year.

The magazine that I particularly like is the daily review of international events titled: “Eye on the World”, which is broadcast at 10 p.m. before “Panorama”. During the half-hour program, we get a reliable dose of information about the most important things that have happened in the world and we can listen to the opinions of real experts and scientists who are invited to the studio every evening and discuss one of the topics.

The hosts of the program are Ernest Zozuń, who for many years dealt with international issues on Radio Trójka; Aleksandra Rutkowska, previously associated with the Reporters’ Foundation, “Polityka” and Gazeta.pl, and Paweł Zieliński, who hosted journalistic programs on Polish Radio. However, the materials for the magazine are prepared by other journalists of the station, and are often created by foreign correspondents of TVP.

The situation on the international stage has not been so tense for years. And TVP Info has finally started reporting

I think it is an interesting alternative to satirical programs broadcast at the same time by competitors, which attack one or the other side of the political dispute in Poland. Especially since international topics are not the most popular in our country, and we live in difficult times, when the geopolitical situation is becoming more and more uncertain, and any event may affect our lives.

The magazine is also easily accessible to everyone who does not watch TV in a standard way. You can watch it at any time via the TVP VOD platform, as well as on YouTube, where current editions of “Oka na Świat” and other TVP Info programs are available. Currently, the public broadcaster’s news channel has a lot of interesting content to offer, but some viewers are certainly offended by the calm narration, thanks to which our emotions do not reach the peak. However, this is how objective public television should function – to inform, not to harass.

The players are playing, the fans are cheering, but not everyone is following the European Football Championships taking place in Germany so closely. For those who are looking for other entertainment, every day we recommend something that we have watched, read or listened to, and we think is worth recommending to others. And if you are now in a football frenzy, save these texts for the second half of July, after Euro 2024. Just in time for the holidays. You can find all of them here.
