The Jazzaldia of San Sebastián will award the double bassist William Parker
The 59th edition of the San Sebastián Jazz Festival presents a program with 76 concerts divided into six days. Music will occupy 12 stages between July 23 and 28, and 41 of those concerts will be free, 26 will be from local groups, five for families within the twelfth edition of Txikijazz, eight from the tenth edition of JazzEñe, eight on the beach -in Keler Gunea-, 23 on the Kursaal terraces -Frigo Gunea and Fnac Gunea, five in Chillida Leku, one in the Juncal square in Irún and another in the María Cristina hotel..
In these concerts, artists of all kinds will perform, more and less close to jazz: Diana Krall, John Zorn, Gregory Porter, William Parker, the Potter-Mehldau-Patitucci-Blake quartet, Scofield-Holland Duo, Iñaki Salvador, Marisa Monte, Rufus Wainwright, Sílvia Pérez Cruz, Larkin Poe, North Mississippi Allstars, Izaro, Shinova, El Columpio Asesino, Les Amazones d’Afrique, Merina Gris, Chill Mafia…
Donostiako Jazzaldia Award
The Donostiako Jazzaldia award will go to the New York double bassist, “in recognition of his musical career dedicated to Jazz and for being a reference for several generations of artists.”
Parker will offer three concerts in this edition of Jazzaldia, in three different settings and with different formations, in duo, trio and quartet. Tickets for these concerts can be purchased individually or together, through the William Parker subscription with which there will be a 15% discount.
