If you live in an area with pine trees, you probably have plenty of pinecones on hand. At first, their presence may be irritating, but the truth is that they can be really useful. You can successfully use them in the garden. Even if you don’t have them near your home, there are probably plenty of them under trees in local parks or along walking paths.

When the cones decompose, they release ingredients such as resin, alkaloids and minerals (potassium, zinc or calcium). They can be beneficial for plants and vegetables, especially cucumbers and tomatoes. Therefore, it is worth preparing a liquid fertilizer from them, which will have a positive effect on… improving the growth of our crops and protecting them against diseases and pests. Moreover, specimens treated with pine cones will have greater resistance to changing weather conditions. This will affect flowering, fruiting and increased harvest.

How to make fertilizer from pine cones? This is how you can make conditioner for cucumbers and tomatoes yourself

When collecting pine cones, you can always add them to the composter. This way they will release all the nutrients into the mixture and help create valuable . To speed up the process, break them up before adding them to the composter. You can run over them with a lawn mower or break them with a shovel. You can also:

  1. fill a liter jar with them,
  2. pour water over everything,
  3. pour into a pot and boil (20 minutes),
  4. set aside to cool,
  5. strain and pour into smaller jars.

Store ready-made fertilizer in jars in a dark and cool place for several months.

ADVICE! Apply fertilizer once every 2 weeks in the form of spray or liquid fertilizer. Beforehand, remember to dilute it with water in the proportions of one liter of water per 50 ml of fertilizer.
