The GetHome.pl portal prepared a report in which the level of forestation in Polish towns was examined. Where is the most greenery?

On June 5, we celebrated World Environment Day. On this occasion, a detailed report on the level of forestation in Polish cities was prepared. Its authors took into account both forests and land covered with trees and shrubs. – Greenery in cities has a huge impact on the quality of life of residents, because it not only reduces pollution, but also slows down the flow of rainwater. Moreover, green areas in cities are conducive to practicing sports and recreation for residents, explains Marek Wielgo, an expert at GetHome.pl. So what does the ranking look like?

Although it may be hard for some to believe, there is a place in our country where more than half of its area is covered by green areas. This is Zielona Góra with a result of 55%. forested areas. Second place is no less surprising. All because of the erroneous belief that Upper Silesia is primarily industry. We are talking about Katowice with a result of 43%. green areas. Slightly less, 30 percent. has Bydgoszcz. Further on we can find: Toruń, Olsztyn, Kielce, Szczecin and Gdańsk (without the waters of the Bay of Gdańsk).

You won’t find much greenery in these cities. Warsaw is not at the top

In which city does concrete dominate? Contrary to appearances, it is not Warsaw, but… Rzeszów, which has only 3 percent. green areas. Hot on his heels Gorzów Wielkopolski (5%), followed by Kraków (6%).. Behind the podium we find Wrocław and Łódź with a result of 8%, and Opole (11%).
