Candies from Poland are a hit in Saudi Arabia. They are in every store

During my stay in the capital of Saudi Arabia, I visited several grocery stores. In each of them I saw sweets from Poland. We’re talking about cows, which have been a hit in those parts of the world for several years.

For several years, Poland has been becoming more and more popular among tourists from Arab countries. It is said that many sheikhs loved Zakopane. That is why they willingly travel to Podhale with their entire families. Last year, one such tourist became famous in the media.

The tourist bought fudge for PLN 2,500

One of the sweets sellers from Zakopane told Interia about his unusual client. A man from the Middle East and his wives really liked Polish fudge. That’s why he bought a bag of sweets for each of them. He paid over PLN 2,000 for the purchases. – He bought fudge for PLN 2,500. He asked for the sweets to be packed in separate bags and gave one to each of his wives, the seller revealed.

However, the tourists described in the media were not the only ones who loved sweets from Poland. It turns out that fudge has recently become very popular in Arab countries – including Saudi Arabia. During my visit to Riyadh, I visited several grocery stores. In each of them I saw a sweet delicacy from Poland.

The price for fudge, depending on the size of the package, ranged from PLN 10 to PLN 20 per package. However, sweets were much more expensive at the airport. There, some products of this type cost as much as PLN 50-60. Interestingly, I even noticed sweets that were produced especially for the Arab market.

Fudges in Arab countries. “They have a special weakness for them”

Why is fudge so popular in Saudi Arabia? They were probably an unknown and interesting commodity for the inhabitants of this country. – “Krówka Mleczna” has a long tradition in Poland and is deeply rooted in the consciousness of Poles, but not exclusively. Fudges are very popular and liked all over the world. Our observations show that consumers from Arab countries have a particular weakness for them – commented Ewelina Matus, deputy director of sales support at Wawel, in an interview with Money.pl a few years ago.
