For nearly half a century, Dorothy “Miss Dottie” Kalkbrenner worked at Highland Elementary School, where she was honored for her service during her last week as a custodian. The woman retired only at the age of 89.

The school’s staff and students hosted a retirement party for Mrs. Dottie, during which she received a certificate of commendation from Abington Township and handmade thank you cards from students.

Reflecting on her career, Ms. Dottie said that he likes his job and will miss it after her retirement, especially seeing her children every day as she walked them through the aisle.
