What not to wear to work? Discriminatory behavior caused a storm among Internet users

Under the video of user @christmaskwon, a discussion ensued about appropriate attire for work. The woman was told by her superior that her clothes revealed too much of her body. Completely disagreeing with his assessment, she went to the office bathroom and recorded a video showing the commented outfit. In this way, she wanted to seek the opinion of Internet users and see what their opinion was on the subject.

In the video we see that she was wearing a black top, jeans and a sweater. The clothes revealed only a bit of cleavage and a neck with tattoos. Was it the sight of them that scandalized the woman’s boss? The video was liked by 1.1 million users. Among the thousands of comments, we can find many that prove that many people have experienced comments from their bosses regarding their appearance or clothing.

My last boss allowed me to wear leggings at work. When I put them on the next day, I was told I couldn’t wear them because my boss said I was too curvy.

Can an employer require a dress code? Check when he has to provide you with business attire

Many companies decide to introduce a dress code for their employees. It depends on the company’s policy and is not regulated in any way by the Civil Code. In some industries, we can, for example, gain customer confidence through our attire. If colors referring, for example, to the company’s logo are introduced, they have a positive impact on the distinction, recognition and promotion of the brand.

When performing certain works, e.g. conservation or at heights, appropriate clothing affects work safety. In this case, it is the boss’s responsibility to provide employees with work clothes. On the gov.pl website we can find the following entry:

The employer is obliged to provide the employee with free personal protective equipment protecting against dangerous and health-damaging factors occurring in the work environment, as well as footwear and work clothes, if required by working conditions.
