The website is now preparing a real revolution for its subscribers. The appearance of the Netflix home page, which has not been updated for a long time, is to change. The new design is to be much more intuitive, as a nod to the platform’s customers who watch content on TV.

Now, when we go to the Netflix home page, we see a trailer for a given production and additional information about the title on the upper left side of the screen. The new look is intended to display all this information without the need for additional scrolling. When we hover over a given production, the trailer will play in a given tile, and under it there will be all the details, such as a description, year of production or number of seasons.
We often see users scanning the home page with their eyes. We wanted to make it easier for them to assess whether a title was right for them, said Pat Flemming, Netflix’s chief product officer, to The Verge.
The menu layout will also change, which until now we could slide out from the left side of the screen. It will soon change its position and will be located at the top of the screen, where you will find options such as search, home page, shows, movies and My Netflix. This will mean that subscribers will only need to press the “back” button on the remote control to get to the menu.

The refreshed menu will no longer include several tabs that are currently available on the left: “Categories”, “New and popular” and “My list”. The “My Netflix” option will be available, which was previously available in the mobile application. In this tab you will find recommendations and recently viewed and saved items. In turn, “categories” will be available from the search level.

Before all users of the website start using the new solutions, Netflix will first start testing them among a small group of users of the Smart TV application or other streaming devices. “If all goes well, we would like to share this with the majority of our user base in the coming months and quarters,” Flemming added.
