Many people joke that just moving the pot a millimeter to the left or right will make it lose all its leaves. The reality, however, is that the most common cause is simply care errors.

It is better not to place the pot in a draughty place, e.g. near balcony doors, windows that are frequently opened or next to doors. Drafts may cause it to start losing leaves. The ficus will do well in a partially shaded or bright position, but not in direct sunlight. So you can place it near a window facing north, east or west. If you have south-facing windows, it is better to choose a place for it away from the window. Sun rays can burn the leaves and cause them to turn yellow and become spotted.
Overwatering is also a cause of the ficus falling and dying. If the leaves turn yellow and brown from the tips and eventually fall off, it is a sign that there was too much water. In this situation, let the substrate dry before watering again, and then stick to the principle of less and more watering. Also remember to remove excess water from the stand. Water, depending on the size of the pot, once every few days, slightly more often in summer. Always check the condition of the soil with your finger first.

The key to caring for your ficus is to provide it with the right ingredients. Ficus benjamina fertilizer comes to the rescue, or actually two of them. To make one of them you will need yeast, for the other you will need gelatin. They will provide the plant with the nitrogen and potassium necessary for its development. Use both mixtures once every about 2 months.
- Yeast fertilizer: Pour 10 g of fresh yeast with 1 liter of warm water. Stir until dissolved, then water the plant.
- Gelatin fertilizer: dissolve a tablespoon of gelatin in hot water. Mix and set aside to cool, and finally water.
