More and more often, the Polish media talks about cyberattacks, i.e. attempts by unauthorized persons to gain access to computer systems, most often with the aim of stealing, modifying or destroying data. The topic was discussed on June 6, 2024 in “Poranek Radio TOK FM”, the guest of which was the Vice-President of the Council of Ministers and Minister of Digital Affairs from the Left.

In the interview, Gawkowski admitted that this type of incidents have been occurring frequently in recent years, but not every reported situation requires the intervention of the services. – Yesterday we received two thousand reports of cyberattacks, 350 of them were qualified and we took action on them – the minister on air. He further discussed, among others: about the threats resulting from cyberattacks and their possible consequences.
At one point, the host of the program spoke up, wanting to find out whether it was possible for such events to occur, e.g. in local enterprises. – I understand that at such a local level, the waterworks you have already mentioned can be attacked, right? – Karolina Lewicka asked. Gawkowski was quite hasty in trying to dispel the presenter’s doubts. – Yes, but I will tell you something – he began, and then referred to the hacker attack that was carried out on the Polish Press Agency at the end of May 2024, as a result of which a false telegram appeared on the Internet. – Let’s take the example of PAP, which will also howl on Friday… – said the minister, but he bit his tongue in time. He was silent for a moment, obviously trying to get out of the situation, and then he started speaking completely from the beginning, pretending that nothing had happened. “Which was implemented,” he finished solemnly. A fragment of the conversation was published on the official YouTube profile with the title “Oops, Gawkowski got away with it.” The video quickly became flooded with comments.
