Wall clay, also known as zdun molder, first appeared in Poland in the 1960s. Today, it is seen more and more often in both cities and villages. Although in appearance, and specifically in its characteristic coloration, it may resemble a strange creature or a hornet, it does not have much in common with them. But is it dangerous for us?
Strange cocoons in the house hide an unpleasant surprise. Are cops stinging and dangerous?
The wall cop is often seen around blocks of flats, and you’ve probably noticed him near windows more than once. In such places, it is easy for him to get food or build a nest in a safe and quiet place. Sometimes this place is the wall of our house. The clay wall spider creates characteristic cocoons in which it lays eggs and collects food for the larvae – spiders. After breaking down the structure, you can often find dead and dried spiders inside. Such “jugs” can be found in cracks on the facade, under window sills, behind books, and even in the wardrobe between clothes.
When we see this insect, we usually panic. Unnecessarily, cops are not dangerous to people, Do cops sting? Yes, but the venom serves primarily to immobilize the spiders that feed the larvae. However, it will not sting a person unless it clearly feels threatened by him. Because it feeds on nectar itself, it is considered a pollinator and beneficial. However, it is worth remembering that it also reduces the number of equally useful spiders.

How to get rid of wall cop? Spray on the frames and it will fly away
Although the zdun beetle is not dangerous, its presence, especially in homes, is not pleasant. How to get rid of wall cop? First of all, if you start seeing it regularly near windows or balconies, it is worth installing insect nets and mosquito nets on the windows. This will effectively stop it from flying into the house and assembling its cocoons in the nooks and crannies. It is worth spraying window frames with a mixture of water, alcohol or vinegar (in 1:1 proportions) and essential oil, preferably with a lemon, mint, eucalyptus or lavender scent. Their scent will effectively scare him away. If you feel like it, vote in our poll below.
