These pants are a true legend of both women’s and men’s fashion. In the Polish People’s Republic, for an original copy you had to pay half of the average salary of that period. Many of you will certainly be saddened by the fact that the company has decided to close the factory in Płock.

In the Polish People’s Republic, the original Levi’s jeans were a dream come true. Few people could afford them because they didn’t cost much. In today’s terms, it cost approximately PLN 2,000. The iconic model was born on May 20, 1873. This date appears on a patch above the right rear pocket of each pair of jeans. Levi’s clothes were sewn in factories all over the world, including: in Poland.

Why is Levi’s closing the factory in Płock? The company indicated the reasons

The Levi Strauss production plant in Płock was launched in 1992. The Polish factory was one of the most valued in terms of quality, which is why mainly prestigious models of the brand were sewn there. Nearly 1,000 people used to work there, but later this number decreased slightly and approximately 650 people worked there. They were mainly women who dealt with sewing.

At the beginning of April 2024, the company announced that it was closing the plant in Płock. There are several reasons for this decision. – An increasingly demanding situation on the labor market, constantly increasing production costs and dynamic evolution of market requirements – Levi Strauss & Co. Inflation and constantly rising energy prices also played a role.

Levi’s Płock will disappear in a few months. What about employed people?

Work at the factory is to be suspended until mid-June, and the plant will be closed by the end of November. Levi’s will continue to operate 25 stores in Poland and plans to open additional stores. Recently, it also has a new corporate office in Warsaw. However, the liquidation of the factory in Płock means that many Poles will lose their jobs. The city’s mayor, Andrzej Nowakowski, met with the plant’s employees and offered help. – First of all, we will be looking for a company that will be related primarily to the textile and knitting industry, or would be able to launch a production similar to Levi’s in Płock – .
