Hundreds of people will give voice to the novel “Bilbao-New York-Bilbao” by Kirmen Uribe

Bilbao will host this Thursday, October 6, the 17th edition of the Uninterrupted Reading of Classics organized by the Euskaltegi Bilbo Zaharra and which this year will have as its protagonist the novel “Bilbao-New York-Bilbao”, by Kirmen Uribe.
The initiative will take place at the Arriaga theater from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., and Kirmen Uribe himself will be in charge of starting the reading. After reading the first lines of this work, which was published in 2008, around 200 people will take turns uninterruptedly throughout the morning before the microphone placed in the theater’s foyer.
As usual, representatives from all areas of Basque society will take part in the initiative, both cultural and social agents, such as students and teachers, representatives of different institutions, associations and unions, etc.
The live reading will alternate with the projection of videos in which students from Bilbao high schools appear reading, as well as members of the diaspora and Basque students from the 50 Basque centers around the world.
The event can be followed live on eitb.eus and through a giant screen installed in Plaza del Arriaga.
In previous years, works such as “Kristalezko begi bat” by Miren Agur Meabe, “Martutene” by Ramon Saizarbitoria, “Gero” by Axular, “Peru Abarka” by Juan Antonio Mogel or “Haur kissetakoa” by Jon Mirande have been read.
They have also read “Hamaika pauso” by Ramon Saizarbitoria, “Zergatik panpox” by Arantxa Urretabizkaia, “Obabakoak” by Bernardo Atxaga, “Harri eta herri” by Gabriel Aresti, “Narrazio Guztiak” by Joseba Sarrionandia, “Metamorfosia” by Franz Kafka , “%100 Basque” by Itxaro Borda, “Kresala” by Txomin Agirre, “Otto Pette” by Anjel Lertxundi, “Ipuin hautatuak” by Mariasun Landa and “Linguae Vasconum Primitiae” by Bernat Etxepare.
