June 4, 2024 marks exactly 35 years since the first partially free elections in the history of post-war Poland. On this occasion, Monika Olejnik invited Monika Olejnik to the episode of “Kropka nad i” broadcast the day before (available on the website) to discuss the threats the European Union is currently facing. This apparently did not please the former president, who from the very beginning tried to avoid answering the questions he was asked.
Wałęsa at Olejnik in “Kropka nad i”. When she wanted to return to the topic of conversation, his nerves gave way
During the conversation, Wałęsa, instead of focusing on its main topic, constantly returned to the period when he headed “Solidarity”. When he started talking about democracy, Olejnik decided to interrupt them by asking a question about the European Parliament elections. The politician couldn’t stand it. – Then get to work. You should have been doing this a long time ago. Is the electrician supposed to tell you what to do? – emotional. The airtime was slowly coming to an end and the clearly bitter host decided to end the program. – Thank you very much. It was Lech Wałęsa. Thank you very much, Mr. President – as a farewell, but the broadcast was not interrupted immediately.
The politician apparently noticed her dissatisfaction and stated that another, but this time longer, meeting would be necessary to discuss all important issues. – You are such a nice woman – he said to Olejnik with a smile and added that in politics it is important to think practically, not theoretically. The journalist responded to this suggestion with a slight sarcasm. – Mr. President, we have to be practical. We need to say who is who, she said bluntly.
Monika Olejnik said goodbye to the viewers of “Kropka nad i”. Lech Wałęsa did not interrupt his monologue
The hostess did not give up and stood firm in her opinion, arguing that the values currently represented by “Solidarity” had nothing to do with how the party functioned years ago and is currently only its “annex”. Wałęsa was unable to agree with this, claiming that he clearly could not understand “Solidarity” at all. – It was a monopoly against a communist monopoly. We had a common denominator: the Soviet Union and the Warsaw Pact, he explained, returning once again to the events from years ago.
However, she stated that the common denominator today is money, as evidenced by, among others, that Poland has been “robbed for the last 8 years”. Then he said directly what he disliked the most about Law and Justice during his term. – They didn’t protect me, they made me an agent. The Russian agent Macierewicz did it – he said, becoming more and more excited. Ultimately, the journalist managed to end this exchange of words and said goodbye to the viewers, although this happened only after more than 2 minutes.
Viewers noticed not only his rather chaotic statements, but also what clothes he wore to the studio. He had two pins on his jacket lapel: one with the Ukrainian flag and the other with the image of the Virgin Mary. A similar motif also appeared on his shirt, with a religious print on the right side and the slogan “Constitution” on the left. If you feel like it, vote in our poll below.
