The latest biography of Chopin with Eryk Kulm Junior is to be one of the most expensive films in the history of Polish cinematography. Production photos will start in September this year.

Since 2001, the most expensive film in the history of Polish cinema has remained “Quo Vadis”. Without taking into account inflation, the production cost the creators over PLN 76 million. In second place was “Karol. The Pope Who Remained Man”, but the production result is much lower – about PLN 48 million.

The most expensive films in the history of Polish cinema

In 2006, there were announcements about the creation of a film about the relief of Vienna for a record amount of PLN 120 million, excluding artists’ fees. In total, “Viccioria” was supposed to cost up to PLN 240 million. Ultimately, a painting on the above-mentioned subject was created, but “The Battle of Vienna” from 2012 was much cheaper. The film closes the podium of the most expensive productions in the history of Polish cinematography with a result of over PLN 44 million.

One of the largest budgets among Polish productions also went to the film from a year ago. The turmoil surrounding the premiere of “The Pilecki Report” due to the change of director during production caused work on the picture to be prolonged, and the film ultimately cost approximately PLN 38 million. The latest Polish biography will soon reshuffle the results in the table.

A film about Chopin will have one of the highest budgets in history. The main role is played by Eryk Kulm Jr

We’re talking about the film “Chopin”. The director and co-writer of the production is the founder of Akson Studio (“Filip”, “Tościowie”, “1670”), Michał Kwieciński. In the title role on the screen we will see one of the most sought-after actors of the young generation in recent years, Eryk Kulm Junior.

Shooting for the film is scheduled to start in September this year and will be shot in Poland and France. According to the Polish Film Institute, the production with Kulm Junior will cost almost PLN 65 million. This means that the composer’s biography may turn out to be the second most expensive film in the history of Polish cinema.
