Cloudy and green pool water is a thing of the past. You don’t need chlorine at all. There is another way

Garden pools are a popular solution for the summer heat, but keeping them in good condition is not that easy. Over time, the water turns green and begins to smell unpleasant. How to deal with this? It turns out that you don’t have to use chlorine at all.

Chlorine is one of the most frequently used disinfectants in swimming pools. It can be purchased in liquid, granulated or tablet form. It kills bacteria, fungi and protozoa, thanks to which the water does not turn green, but not everyone likes the specific smell of this substance. Fortunately, there is an alternative.

Why does the pool water turn green? What to use instead of chlorine? Here’s another proven solution

Pool water turns green for several reasons. The main factor is high temperature and lack of filtration, which favors the growth of algae. It is also worth remembering to regularly clean the bottom and walls, because this is where microorganisms accumulate.

Chlorine irritates the conjunctiva, and some people may also experience a burning sensation on the skin. Chlorinated water also has a negative effect on hair, so it is worth looking for another way to keep the pool clean. The solution may be bromine, which is obtained from seawater. Unlike chlorine, it is gentle on the skin, does not irritate the eyes and stays in the water much longer. Additionally, it is effective in the fight against bacteria and microorganisms, so using this agent will prevent the water from turning green and unpleasant smell.

What to do to prevent green water in the pool? You’ll need some vitamin C

Another way to make crystal clear pool water is to use ascorbic acid, a popular method. It has an antioxidant effect and reduces the iron content, making the water visibly clearer. However, it is worth remembering that vitamin C will not remove bacteria and microorganisms, so it should be used as an ad hoc method. If you feel like it, vote in our poll below.
