This has never happened before: YouTubers are making a cinematic film and counting on funding from the Polish Film Institute

Previously, there were ice cream, drinks, music and books, and now the Friza team is planning to debut on the big screen. The group founded by Karol “Friz” Wi¶niewski has gained millions of subscribers and achieved commercial successes. Now they move on.

The team’s songs such as “POJMUJEMY JUTUBY” or “3KIPA” were hits. Additionally, they achieved commercial success by creating their own clothing lines and gadgets. Their great influence on youth culture in Poland is undeniable.

Like any popular group, Friz’s team has had to deal with various controversies. These included allegations of inappropriate content, conflicts with other internet creators and issues of ethics in commercial activities. Will the YouTubers’ first cinematic film also arouse controversy?

A new film project by the Friza team

Friz’s team is working on a full-length feature film, which is intended to show the lives of contemporary high school graduates. The main roles will be played by the members of the crew themselves. Filming is scheduled to begin in July, a the premiere is planned for 2025.

Funding from the Polish Film Institute

According to Wirtualne Media, Ekipa Holding, whose main shareholder is Karol “Friz” Wiśniewski, submitted an application for co-financing of the project to the National Film Institute (PISF). They count on financial support as part of the incentives offered by the Polish Film Institute. The decision on the allocation of funds is expected to be made in the second half of the year.

The total production and marketing budget for the film is approx PLN 17 million gross. These costs are to be partially covered by the distributor and potential external investors.

This case of YouTubers in cinemas is not an isolated one. In March this year, the documentary “Budda. Dzieciak ’98” debuted on Polish cinema screens., which tells about the life and career of one of the most popular Polish YouTubers, Kamil Labuddy, known as Budda. The film shows his passion for motoring and the challenges he had to face during his internet career.
