Fuchsia, also called ulanka, is a beautiful balcony and garden plant with extremely decorative flowers. It is not particularly demanding in care, but if you want it to bloom like never before during the season, it is worth remembering a few rules.
What doesn’t fuchsia like? It’s better not to keep it in such places
Fuchsias are charming potted plants that can be grown on the balcony or in the garden. It is worth remembering that they are not frost-resistant, which means that if you do not move them indoors for the winter, they will die. Therefore, even in front of the house, it is best to grow them in containers, although of course they can also be treated as annual plants. To delight with lush, colorful flowers, make sure they grow in a slightly shaded place, away from direct sun rays, which can damage it. In turn, the soil should be constantly slightly acidic, moist, but absolutely not overwatered, and also highly fertile, humus-rich and moderately permeable.

How to care for fuchsia on the balcony? Choose regular watering
As we mentioned above, fuchsia prefers slightly moist places. For this reason, it should be watered regularly. Do it relatively often, but not too abundantly, directly into the ground, with the help of waste water or rainwater. Even a short drying period may cause it to lose not only flowers, but even leaves, so it is better not to let this happen. During hot weather, water it even twice a day. If you are concerned about your regularity, it is worth using a hydrogel that will retain some of the water and release it when necessary, without the risk of overflowing. In addition to watering, also focus on cutting. Carry out the first one in spring, when it produces many young stems, which should be shortened to a height slightly above the second eye, thanks to which it will grow beautifully and bloom. If you move it indoors for the winter, make an autumn cut just before, at a height of 3 eyelets from the bottom.
How to water fuchsias to make them bloom nicely? Take it from the kitchen
If you want your fuchsia to bloom all summer long, don’t forget to fertilize it regularly. Of course, you can buy a ready-made preparation, but you can make it yourself, which is equally effective and cheaper. Take one medium-sized radish from the kitchen, cut it into pieces, pour a small amount of water, mix and then pour into 1 liter of water. Use the resulting solution for watering no more than once a week. Thanks to the high content of nitrogen, potassium, phosphorus and iron, it will thoroughly nourish the plant and provide it with everything it needs. If you feel like it, vote in our poll below.
