Budka Suflera is a cult Polish rock band founded in 1974 by Krzysztof Cugowski. Although its line-up has changed many times over the years, they have maintained an unshakable position in domestic show business. Together they released as many as 17 studio albums and promoted many timeless hits, such as: “Dream of the Valley”, “For the Last Penny”, “All Saints’ Ball” and “Night over Norwid”. The latter turned out to be quite an inspiration for the American rapper.

The musicians found out, among others, that some of the band’s songs are immortal. in 2015. It was then that he released a mixtape titled “The Kanan Tape”, which he promoted with the song “Body Bags”. Voices quickly appeared that the samples used in it sounded very familiar. And of course, everyone who thought so was not wrong at all. It turned out that Alchemist, who was responsible for producing the single, took it from the cult song “Noc nad Norwidem”, which was released by Budka Suflera in 1976 on the album “Przechodniem poznałem Między nami”. Although the rapper’s album was a hit, just like the above-mentioned song, the royalties he received were not outrageous.
Cugowski received a transfer from 50 Cent. There was a specific amount. Much or little?
In an interview conducted by Bartosz Boruciak for the Mixtape TV program, Cugowski admitted that 50 Cent transferred the entire previously agreed amount to his account. He even said that although it was not “a lot of money”, it would be enough for a good dinner. – It was probably 5 or 6 thousand dollars – said the singer, adding that if he had received such an amount in his youth, he would not have been able to throw even a decent party with it, because then “he could drink a lot.”
At the same time, he expressed regret that the rapper did not use this song when creating another album, which sold in a much larger circulation. – 50 Cent had a very serious failure with his album, of which he sold 20 million. I can’t regret the fact that “Night on Norwid” is not included here – he said with a laugh.
It is worth mentioning that this is not the first time that Budka Suflera’s music was performed by foreign artists.
