How often to do laundry? The expert gave specifics. “I felt like we were a family of dirty people”

Laundry is one of those household chores that can literally pile up forever. It turns out that some people do not allow the basket to be overloaded and wash the washing machine frequently. Really often. Well, some things should be washed even every day. True?

On the one hand, washing clothes nowadays is easier than it was a few decades ago. We throw everything into the machine, we just have to remember to hang it up or throw it into another machine to dry. On the other hand, we have much more clothes and things in general. So when we have to do the laundry every day, plus other household chores, work, dinner, children, it may turn out that we are on our feet all day long.

How often to do laundry? “I felt like we were a family of filth”

However, according to some, we should wash the laundry almost every day. Well, unless we have a lot of clothes and spacious laundry baskets. This issue was recently raised by Aneta Czupalla on her Instagram. A cleaning expert published a video that is circulating on the Internet. We can see precise calculations on how often to wash individual items. The recording shows the following schedule:

  • pajamas: after 1-2 wears
  • t-shirt: after each wearing
  • jeans: every 1-3 wears
  • bras: every 1-3 wears
  • towels: after 1-2 uses
  • bed linen: every 1-2 weeks
  • socks: after each use

It turns out that almost every point is quite controversial. Indeed, we prefer to wash socks after each wearing, but it is difficult to throw a towel into the washing machine after drying ourselves or jeans after leaving the house once. A cleaning expert expressed a similar opinion:

When I saw this, I felt like we were a dirty family. I wash when something is just dirty and sweaty. As for socks, underwear and bedding, that’s obvious, but the rest is a joke to me. Not to mention the time itself, but also the electricity, water and the consumption of materials. Let’s not go crazy. Let’s respect our time and money

“I can’t imagine tomorrow wearing what I wore today again”

Many people commented on the post. Many of them were as surprised by the calculations as the author of the entry. Others, however, said that these are the basics of hygiene and we really should wash some things much more often than we do.

– I guess we’re dirty too. We wear clothes for 2-3 days, and we often change bed linen once a month. Towels only every week. And the best thing is that the washing machine works every day anyway, because if it’s not for children’s, then it’s ours or bedding/towels/dishes.

After a whole day, bacteria settle on clothes. I can’t imagine tomorrow wearing what I wore today again

Bras every day, that’s underwear!

– If I had to wash clothes so often, I would be f***ed. The washing machine runs on the weekend and once a week and I think that’s a lot. Water, electricity, fluids. After all, nothing will happen to anyone if they wear pajamas or a blouse several times. We are brothers with our bacteria. And besides, things simply get damaged if they are washed over and over again.

– I can’t imagine washing 6 sets of bedding every week… This excessive hygiene will kill us one day.

– The less jeans, the better, not after 3 wears

I assume that if I haven’t had a fight, I don’t have to wash my clothes after wearing them once. Of course, I’m not talking about panties
