The Madrid Book Fair has already opened its doors for its 83rd edition, in which Gabriel García Marquez, Antonia Kerrigan, Elena Fortún, Roberto Santiago will be honored and Mafalda’s candles will be blown out. With more than two weeks left in the event, Retiro Park will host more than 300 activities with signatures from writers, journalists and personalities from the publishing industry included.

Some, in fact, have already started. In this sense, the signatures of Rosa Montero, Pedro Simón, Luis Landero, Sara Mesa, Julia Navarro, Pedro Baños, among many others, are scheduled. All of them will pass through the 359 exhibitor booths on the sides of the venue, two less than the previous year, and another 15 housed in a “new” octagonal space that will be located in the central area. In addition, there will be 43 publishing houses that will be installed in the Indómitas space.

Among the novelties of this edition is the evening of June 7 in which the Fair will remain open until 11:30 p.m. and which has been called ‘The illuminated night’. Likewise, on June 13, Olympic and Paralympic Day will be celebrated and the program will revolve around different physical disciplines with sports exhibitions attended by athletes of the caliber Albert Llovera, Lydia Valentín, Fermín Cacho and Teresa Perales.

Among the planned activities, the presentation of the Getafe Negro crime novel festival, and a round table where the visibility of women in sports will be analyzed, which will feature the participation of prominent journalists such as Paloma del Río and Patricia Cazón. He Vallecano Ray It will star in two round tables in which its 100 years of history will be analyzed, and there will also be a simultaneous game of chess and the third fair meeting of the Sui Generis Virtual Reading Club.

Except for the Friday of ‘The Illuminated Night’, the fair will have a fixed schedule so that on the weekend it will open for one more hour during the midday shift:
