The Environment Delegate of the Madrid City Council, Borja Carabanteconfirmed this Wednesday that all the concerts held so far in the renovated Santiago Bernabéu stadium have been settled with complaint bulletins for the promoters for having breached noise levels established in the regulations.
When asked by journalists, Carabante said that “different complaint bulletins have been processed by the Municipal Police”, and that, once the administrative part is finished, “the corresponding sanction will be imposed.” “But There will be a sanction for each of the concerts they have held so far” in the Real Madrid stadium, added Carabante, who explained that the complaints – which vary depending on the noise levels exceeded – are for the concert promoters, because they are the ones requesting “authorization” for the event.
However, Carabante believes that Real Madrid, by renting or giving up its stadium for these concerts, cannot remain “oblivious” to that reality. “We have conveyed, as the mayor (José Luis Martínez-Almeida) said, to Real Madrid that they have to take measures to improve soundproofing, and, therefore, Real Madrid announced today that it would carry out soundproofing improvementswith the placement of elements that make it possible to act as an acoustic barrier”, added the delegate of Urban Planning, Environment and Mobility.
As highlighted, The City Council is “permanently” carrying out noise measurements “every time a concert is held, to guarantee the rights of citizens and avoid possible inconveniences.” The Municipal Police and the General Directorate of Sustainability will also take measurements this Wednesday, in the first of the two concerts that the American singer Taylor Swift will give at the Santiago Bernabéu to guarantee that the maximum noise levels “are met,” Carabante added.
For her part, the vice mayor, spokesperson for the municipal government and delegate of Security and Emergencies, Inma Sanz, has assured that the City Council will continue doing “what we have done until now.” “If there are calls from neighbors they will be answered, the corresponding measurements will be made and if the noise is exceeded there will be a penalty, as it cannot be otherwise, because you have to comply with the ordinances“, guaranteed the second mayor of the capital.
Sanz has also said that it will have to be Real Madrid or the concert promoters who talk about the “possible measures to take” to minimize the noise. “In any case,” Sanz added, “what we know is that improvements are being studied and are being worked on regarding soundproofing“But, as I said, it will have to be Real Madrid itself or the promoters who talk about this matter and whether it will be for now or it will be for the following events.”
