The series “1670” directed by Maciej Buchwald and Kordian Kądziela is one of the biggest hits of Netflix in recent months. Now the second creator is working on his first feature-length film, intended for young people. According to the announcement, “LARP” is to be an original and intelligent production about “maturation, first love, becoming independent from family and getting to know your inner strength.”
The feature debut of the creator of “1670” is coming. And the cast includes many actors from the series
– In ‘LARP’ we touch on topics important to contemporary youth – difficulties in communicating with peers, being an outsider in a group, searching for one’s own identity, trying to find a common language with parents, life in a broken family, and finally sexual initiation. We tried to include all important and difficult topics in a form that was as attractive to the viewer as possible, says Kądziela, quoted by Kordian.
Michał Wawrzecki (screenwriter of the series “Sortownia” and “Chyłka”) is also working on the new production, and the cast in a surprising performance includes Bartłomiej Topa and Martyna Byczkowska, Filip Zaręba, Andrzej Konopka, Michał Balicki, Maciej Bisiorek, Agnieszka Rajda, Mikołaj Chilimończyk, Hubert Łupacz and Edyta Olszówka.
What will “LARP” talk about? Kądziela specifically decided to create a film for teenagers
The main character of the film is 17-year-old Sergiusz, who is bullied at school and at home due to his strange hobby of playing Elf in LARP games. In the world of LARP, a high school student is manly, brave and admired. The situation is different in the family and among peers, where he is treated like a loser. One day, a new student appears at his school – beautiful Helena. Unfortunately, the girl begins to make friends with a group of popular students. Unexpectedly, Sergiusz discovers Helena’s secret.
Our film is aimed at teenagers – an age group that, in our opinion, is largely neglected in terms of the richness of the film offer addressed to them. I have the impression that for several years we have been dealing with a kind of gap in this area – especially in domestic cinema. While dozens of successful Polish films for children and even more high-quality films for adults have been created recently, there is still no good domestic cinema aimed at teenagers – explained the director.
Currently, they are still working on the set of the film “LARP”. The release date of the production has not been officially confirmed yet, but it is quite possible that the film will hit cinema screens in 2025.
