One of the main roles in the series was played by Dylan Minnette, whose performance in such a popular production brought him fame and opened the door to an acting career. Although the actor had previously played several roles, they were mainly niche titles or those that, for various reasons, did not become cinema hits. The breakthrough came in 2017, thanks to the aforementioned “13 Reasons Why”, but Dylan Minnette did not ride the wave of popularity. During and after working on the Netflix series, he appeared on screen only three times, the last time in the 2022 production.

The creators of the “Zach Sang Show” podcast were interested in what the actor was hearing. It turns out that Minnette in the meantime simply gave up acting, which over time ceased to be his passion and became only a job. “It was a really popular show and I think I reached the pinnacle of my acting. But on the other hand, it started to feel like some kind of regular job. I was in a really privileged situation, I had a lot of fun, there were a lot of inspiring events, but I started to feel like after he just worked,” Minnette said.
After giving up acting, Minnette pursued what gives him great joy: music. “I think I’m in a comfortable enough situation that I can focus on this for a while and take it as far as I can,” he reported on the “Zach Sang Show” podcast. However, the 27-year-old emphasizes that he has not yet said his last word in the film industry and does not rule out returning to work on the set in the future.
