The XVII San Sebastián Musical Documentary Film Festival Dock of the Bay, which will be held from June 17 to 22, will screen 13 feature films and seven short films. In addition, it will offer an exhibition on the creative universe of the musician Gorka Urbizu, which he will inaugurate himself, concerts by Diego Vasallo and Kokoshca and round tables.
Dock of the Bay, which will take place in the Trueba, Tabakalera, Teatro Principal cinemas and other spaces in the city, as well as Le Bukowski or the Convento de Santa Teresa, will offer in its Official Section a total of eight feature films in competition, which will be about the group Peaches, Sexy Sadie, The Black Keys, the Andalusian singer sisters Fernanda and Bernarda, the artistic and personal relationship between Omar Rodríguez-Lopez and Cedric Bixler-Zavala (At the Drive-In / The Mars Volta), Lagartija Nick , the German music star Gudrunt Gut and the group Mogway.
As for the seven feature films in competition, six of them can be seen in a joint session that will take place on Thursday, June 20 at 7:00 p.m. at the Tabakalera cinema, with presentations and discussions by the directors: ‘Punkaren beste pueblo’, by the group Perlata, ‘The path of noise’, ‘An exemplary punk’, ‘If the clouds fall’, ‘Ressonàncies (d’una Música callada)’ and ‘Barranco, the return of Phylloxera’ , an experimental documentary that portrays the Barranco Fest music festival, in Fitero.
The out-of-competition section Perfect Day will show, among other works, the film Diego Vasallo, Posterity For Laterby Beatriz Echeverria, which allows the viewer to enter the intimacy of this artist’s creative process.
The Dock of the Bay program is completed with the parallel concert section, Dock Live! and with performances by Kokoshca (Thursday the 20th at 9:00 p.m. in the Kutxa Fundazioa Kluba Tabakalera room) and Diego Vasallo himself (Wednesday the 19th at 9:00 p.m.).
As a “new thing” this year, the exhibition ‘Janela bat, A window to the creative universe of Gorka Urbizu’ has stood out, which will bring together at the Santa Teresa convent in San Sebastián on June 14 and for a month, the photographic work of Ibai Arrieta and several audiovisual pieces by filmmaker Alexander Cabeza Trigg, as well as the book ‘Kaier Bat’ and album ‘Hasiera Bat’ by Urbizu, who will attend the inauguration.
