to the European Parliament are fast approaching. Although Poles will not go to the polls until June 9, 2024, candidates of various committees are already fighting fiercely to get their votes. On May 26, the “Super Express” portal organized a debate in which the following took part: from PiS, Ewa Zajączkowska-Hernik from Confederation, from the Left, Michał Kobosko from Trzecia Droga and Janusz Korwin Mikke, representing the committee of Non-partisan local government officials – normal Poland in normal Europe. There was a scandal.
European Parliament elections 2024. Polexit party not invited to the debate. Perkowski stormed into the studio
At the very beginning, Korwin-Mikke noticed that no representative of the nationwide Polexit committee was taking part in the event. The host hurriedly explained that Jakub Perkowski, representing the group, would be invited to the last interview in the series, which was scheduled to be broadcast next Sunday. Suddenly, to everyone’s surprise, the activist entered the studio. – I am very happy, ladies and gentlemen, Jakub Perkowski, I am Polexit’s candidate for the first place in district No. 1 – to the viewers, and then turned to the host. – You didn’t expect me here at all, I don’t know why, you saved some money and didn’t buy a seventh desktop – he said, clearly agitated. A shouting match ensued.
The Polexit party did not take part in the pre-election debate. Perkowski was taken out of the studio off camera
The presenter tried to control the situation from the beginning, explaining that this particular event was organized with representatives of the six largest committees in mind. Moreover, he emphasized that “Super Express” is not a public medium, therefore it has the right to decide which guests it invites to participate in the panel. Perkowski did not give up, citing, among other things, on the constitution or journalistic law. – I will ask for a microport and I will be happy to participate without a desk – he continued, presenting Polexit’s demands to the camera.
The presenter left his post and approached him, trying unsuccessfully to get him to leave the studio. At the same time, he assured that at some point he would also have the opportunity to speak and present his party. – Who will you exclude? Let’s draw. One, two, three, Patryk Jaki, you are not at this debate. One, two, three, you’re not at this debate either, Perkowski persisted, pointing to individual candidates.
He then addressed the audience again. – This is what democracy looks like in the Third Polish Republic, it looks terrible – he said. The atmosphere reached its zenith. “It’s starting to get irritating, really,” the host replied, clearly resigned, and then the broadcast was interrupted. Broadcasting resumed with the previously planned lineup only after a few minutes. If you feel like it, vote in our poll below.
