He stayed with Kasprowicz, then seduced his wife. A scandal broke out. “Satan has come to my house”

Although Stanis³aw Przybyszewski was an outstanding writer, readers were fascinated not only by his works, but also by his turbulent private life. Having a great romance, he became the hero of many scandals, and one of the loudest took place when he was in Lviv. It was then that, hosted by his dear friend Jan Kasprowicz, he seduced his wife.

Stanisław Przybyszewski had a huge impact on the development of Poland at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. However, his private life was full of numerous controversies and scandals. He was considered among those around him to be a womanizer addicted to alcohol and drugs, and fascinated by the occult. However, this did not bother the poet Jan Kasprowicz, who had great sympathy for him and considered him his friend. By the time.

Przybyszewski took Kasprowicz’s wife away. Their romance began in the poet’s house

In 1899, Przybyszewski, already known throughout Europe and a poet, went to Lviv, where he stayed in the house of Kasprowicz and his second wife. Jadwiga Gąsowska, fascinated by his work, which her husband had previously introduced her to, quickly succumbed to his seductive charm. A fiery flame broke out between them and flourished while the master of the house was unaware of anything. The truth came to light thanks to Przybyszewski himself, who decided to inform his friend about the situation during breakfast. – Janek, I love your wife. Your wife loves me – . – Jadwinia, Mr. Przybyszewski says that you love him. Is it true? – Kasprowicz, to which Jadwiga replied only with a short “I don’t know”.

Kasprowicz tried hard to save the marriage, mainly for the sake of shared children, but in vain. Jadwiga, deceived by the vision of life with Przybyszewski, insisted on a divorce, which eventually took place. However, she had already abandoned her family and, regardless of his constant affairs, she went with him to Poland. At that time, Kasprowicz focused on raising his children and put his emotions on paper. It was then that his most famous works were written, such as the sorrowful “Hymny” or “Moja pieśń ponana”.

The scandal ruined Kasprowicz’s second marriage. Przybyszewski was not faithful to his friend’s wife

Przybyszewski contributed not only to the breakdown of the Kasprowicz family’s marriage, but also to his own. At that time, he was the husband of a Norwegian woman, Dagny Juel, whom he left in Zakopane during his departure. When the woman found out about , she entered into a double affair with Stanisław Korab-Brzozowski and Władysław Emeryk. The first of them committed suicide when he found out that he was being cuckolded. The second one killed first her and then himself. Przybyszewski was not particularly moved by this fact, and he was not eager to take care of the children they had together. Interestingly, at that time Kasprowiczowa was not the only woman in his life, because at the same time he had a passionate relationship with Aniela Pająkówna.

Satan, an evil, perverse and vulgar woman, came to my house

– he wrote to her about Jadwiga. The famous painter even bore him a daughter, Stanisława Przybyszewska, later a renowned novelist. When Kasprowiczowa learned about his next jump to the side, she was devastated. She tried to end her life, but was “saved” by… a proposal, although, considering the above, rather insincere. In 1905, they got married, but this did not end Kasprowicz’s love escapades and he never settled down.
