It turns out that Corpus Christi is a holiday of obligation, which means that practicing Catholics are obliged to attend Holy Mass on this day. According to the Code of Canon Law, if we are unable to show up at the temple, we can do it the day before. Importantly, missing Mass on these dates is a sin. “The obligation to participate in the Holy Mass is fulfilled by those who take part in it, wherever it is celebrated in the Catholic rite, either on the feast day itself or on the evening of the day before,” we read in canon 1248.
