, real name Leszek Zerhau, was born on April 15, 1947 in Bielsko-Biała. His mother prayed for him to become a doctor or a priest, and his father encouraged him to study law, but he had a completely different idea of life. Although he sang and played instruments from an early age, and even founded a band as a teenager, he dreamed of becoming an actor. He even tried to win the index of the Łódź Film School twice, but his candidacy was always rejected in the run-in. It was then that he decided to pursue music professionally.
He gained popularity as a member of the Czerwono-Czarni band. How did Jacek Lech’s career develop?
His professional debut is considered to be his performance during the “Microphone for Everyone” competition, which he won when he was only 17 years old. Just 2 years later, he became the soloist of the big beat band, with which he promoted many timeless hits, including the immortal hit “Be the girl of my dreams”. They gave concerts together not only in Poland but also abroad, including: in Germany, Hungary, Yugoslavia, Canada and the United States, and even supported such stars as during their performance for the Warsaw audience.
The good streak came to an end in 1972, when he left the band and founded his own band under the name Nowa Grupa. He did not enjoy his success for long, because just a few months later he had a serious car accident and completely withdrew from public life for a long time, struggling to regain fitness. In the meantime, he was also going through emotional turmoil. After his divorce from Lucyna Owsińska, he married a certain Zofia, but this relationship did not survive the test of time and went down in history.
What did Jacek Lech suffer from? The singer did not wake up from anesthesia after the surgery
In the early 2000s, the artist’s career slowed down a bit, but he didn’t care at all, because he still had crowds of devoted fans with whom he met during recitals. He also found love with Urszula Kopeć, whom he met during his stay in his hometown. The couple even planned to get married, but the singer’s health problems prevented them from formalizing their relationship. During a routine examination, doctors discovered he had esophagitis. He was not particularly surprised by this, he even anticipated such a scenario, because he had been a smoker since he was 13 years old. Apparently he wanted to give up nicotine several times, but each attempt had a negative impact on his voice. – I tried, but it harmed my vocal cords, which were accustomed to tobacco. When I stopped smoking, I became increasingly hoarse because my vocal cords were addicted to nicotine – .
Almost immediately he underwent chemotherapy and then radiation, but he did not want to hear about surgery. He was afraid that his vocal cords might be damaged, which would result in him losing his voice and therefore the ability to perform on stage. – The surgery may take away my voice – he complained in one of the interviews. Only when his condition did not improve did he decide to take the risk. The procedure was successful, but the singer did not wake up from anesthesia. He died a few days later on March 25, 2007 at the age of 60. If you feel like it, vote in our poll below.
