was born on May 11, 1934 in Warsaw. His acting predispositions emerged already in his childhood, and in school plays he was the first candidate for the main roles. After successfully passing his secondary school leaving exams, he obtained the index of a theater school and began studies, graduating in 1956.
He was a star of theater and cult productions. Ryszard Ostalowski’s daughter followed in his footsteps
He made his screen debut a year earlier in the novella “Three Losses” directed by Ewa and Czesław Petelski. Then he repeatedly played in such cult productions as “Everything for Sale”, “07 Zgpowiedz się”, “Zmiennicy” and “Zmiennicy”. However, in his work he focused mainly on theater, which was his greatest passion. He performed on the stage of the capital’s Dramatic, National, Contemporary and People’s Theaters, and also regularly played in Television Theater performances and radio plays.
Professional success initially went hand in hand with happiness in private life. At the end of the 1960s, he became involved with journalist Irena Ostalowska, who on February 18, 1971 gave birth to his daughter, today a renowned actress. Although they seemed to be a perfect match, their relationship quickly deteriorated, all because Ostalowski looked into the glass more and more often. His beloved tried many times to persuade him to undergo therapy, but to no avail. Finally, the cup of bitterness overflowed and the marriage became history.
Addiction cast a shadow over Ostalowski’s relationship with his daughter. The actor died in complete oblivion
After her parents separated, Dominika and her mother moved out of the house. – Times were hard then. In addition, my mother was not a particularly resourceful woman. She never cared about material things – in the pages of “Tina”. Her father tried to maintain regular contact with her, but it was not always possible. When he canceled meetings, he sent her letters, which to this day are the only souvenir she has left of him. – My father was a very good and charming man, but his sensitivity turned out to be greater than his ability to cope with adversities – she said years later with regret.
Even though she offered him a helping hand many times, the addiction was stronger than parental love. – When I tried to get closer to him, fate did not give us a chance for friendship – she said in “Rewia”. – This separated us – she added. Ryszard Ostalowski spent the last years of his life in extreme poverty and poverty. He even begged for food or cigarettes from random passers-by. He died on November 2, 1998 at the age of 64.
