Many people love summer for its long, sunny days, warm weather and, of course, holidays. Unfortunately, there is something that casts a shadow over this period. Of course, we are talking about troublesome flies, midges, mosquitoes and ticks that are dangerous to our health, and which are then particularly active. How to protect yourself against them?
What smells do ticks dislike? Pick from the meadow
In summer, insects and arachnids can be really irritating, and the leader in this group is undoubtedly ticks, whose bites are not only itchy, but also carry the risk of disease. That is why it is so important to protect yourself properly when walking among the grass or in the forest. We usually use ready-made products in the form of ointments and sprays whose scent effectively repels insects. What to do when we don’t have any at hand? Pick the tansy. You will find it in meadows, along roads, in forests and thickets. Its yellow flowers cannot be confused with anything else.

How to use tansy against ticks? Quickly: crumple it and put it in your pocket
Tansy is a characteristic, tall plant with yellow flowers collected in baskets. What makes it stand out is its intense scent, which effectively repels unwanted insects and arachnids. First of all, it is hated by mosquitoes and ticks, which have an extremely sensitive sense of smell. Therefore, during a walk or trip, just pick a few flowers, crush them slightly in your hands and put them in your pocket or shoes. Their scent will create an impenetrable barrier. Just be careful and then rinse your hands thoroughly, as tansy is also poisonous. All because it contains thujone, so it is better not to use it on pregnant women, elderly people or children, and certainly not on animals.

Dilute them in another base oil (e.g. coconut oil, olive oil) in a 1:3 ratio, add water, pour into an atomizer and use to spray clothes. Of course, remember that home remedies are not 100% effective. Therefore, in addition to this, do not forget about appropriate clothing for walks and, above all, long sleeves, hat and socks. After returning home, always look carefully, as ticks sometimes take a long time to find the right place to insert themselves.
