Saturate it with oil and hide it in nooks and crannies. There will be dust behind the fleeing marten

Although at first glance it seems to be a cute animal, the marten can make quite a mess in the attic or garage. Her fascination with biting cables and wires often causes us a lot of trouble and additionally exposes us to costs and danger. What to do to scare away a marten? Choose a homemade marten repellent for your car.

When a marten settles in one of the rooms of our house, we must drive it away as quickly as possible. Its presence carries many threats that may prove crucial to our safety. Apart from the fact that martens can make a lot of noise (especially at night) and emit a very unpleasant smell, they also cause serious damage. It happens that animals destroy electrical installations, which often leads to short circuits and even fires. Therefore, if we notice the presence of a small predator, we should immediately take steps to get rid of it.

What doesn’t the house marten like? Choose proven methods

Marten do not like strong smells, so it is worth using them to get rid of an unwanted tenant. Often, it is enough to use disinfectants that contain chlorine or ammonia for cleaning. However, when we do not want to use strong chemicals, it is worth choosing home methods to combat marten. To make repellents, install pieces of felt soaked in essential oils, e.g. peppermint or lavender, in the corners of the room. Intense scents of oils irritate the animal’s nostrils, which discourages them from staying in a given place. If you are a cat owner, you can use it to drive away martens. These are its natural enemies, so their hair placed near a ventilation opening or window will effectively discourage the animal from settling in.

Intruder in the garage? Make a marten repellent for your car

Marten love cars for some reason. When they get to the garage, they climb under the hood and treat the insides of the car as their playground. This is a very dangerous situation because chewed cables or brakes pose a real threat to our lives. Some home remedies will not work here, as it is hard to imagine driving a car with a strong smell of detergents. How can we protect ourselves against pest attacks?

First of all, let’s check the car and be vigilant. Put a toilet block and cloths soaked in mothballs under the hood of your car. If marten attacks are frequent, it is worth investing in professional repellent sprays or devices that emit sounds that irritate the animal. In the automotive store we can also buy special covers for wires and cables that are resistant to pest teeth. If you feel like it, vote in our poll below.
