Washing machines, refrigerators, ovens and dishwashers are devices without which most of us cannot imagine normal functioning. They work when plugged in and consume quite a bit of electricity. And this, of course, affects the amount of our bills. As Rafał Gawin, president of the Energy Regulatory Office, announced, we can expect further increases in July this year.
These are the biggest electricity thieves
Which devices consume the most energy? Here are the top three. We learn from the PGNiG website that the induction hob consumes the most electricity. This amounts to as much as 748.25 kWh per year. It is worth noting that this calculation was prepared assuming that we use the hob for about half an hour a day. Importantly, the highest values of the device consume the most energy. Therefore, if we want to reduce electricity consumption a bit, it is worth giving up cooking on them. The second place in this ranking is taken by the electric oven. In this case it is 496.4 kWh. The refrigerator came in third place. It consumes 270 kWh. The next places in the ranking were taken by:
- Electric Kettle;
- dishwasher;
- desktop computer;
- vacuum cleaner;
- washing machine;
- laptop;
- TV set;
- iron.
They are turned off or in sleep mode. They consume energy anyway
Every day we leave many devices plugged in even though we do not use them. And even though they are turned off or in sleep mode, they consume power. They may also be devices with a constantly on display (for example, cookers). The same applies to those that are left in standby mode. These are, for example, laptops or TVs.

What about phone chargers? In many homes they are connected all the time. Even when we don’t use them. However, it is worth developing the habit of unplugging them from the sockets. This will allow us to save money and will also be an ecological activity.
