The actress supported the women’s strike. She was not allowed to participate in the pilgrimage

Kamila Kamiñska played Saint. Faustina in the film “Love and Mercy” in 2019. She was to talk about the role at the Women’s Pilgrimage. The meeting did not take place – the actress had previously received a phone call that she was not welcome.

Kamila Kamińska was to meet the faithful during the Women’s Pilgrimage and talk about her experiences of playing the role of Saint Faustina. The actress was preparing for the role, among others. in the Congregation of the Sisters of Our Lady of Mercy, she read the “Diary” of St. Faustina. In an interview with Aleteia a few years ago, she eagerly talked about faith and what the role of a saint meant to her. Therefore, it should not be surprising that the actress was asked to participate in the Women’s Pilgrimage, during which she would talk about the 2019 film. There was no meeting with the faithful.

Kamila Kamińska received a call that “some people” didn’t like it

Regardless of the role of Saint Faustina, Kamila Kamińska, shortly after the premiere of “Love and Mercy”, openly supported the Women’s Strike during protests against the tightening of the anti-abortion law. This very issue was raised shortly before the Women’s Pilgrimage to which she was invited.

I was invited by a kind priest to share my experience of playing the role of Saint. Faustina in the film “Love and Mercy”, as well as in her personal life. Unfortunately, I was not with you, dear women. (…) I don’t want to remain silent on this subject. I received a phone call in which a priest, who was actually a messenger, explained and apologized that “certain people” did not like the fact that I supported the Women’s Strike and supported women’s free choice, and feared that I might be subjected to hate from people from conservative Catholic circles, although he doesn’t see anything wrong with what I said.

The priests decided that it would be a day of prayer and concentration, not sensation. I respect the decision, although I don’t understand the fear of confrontation, but I respect it. I also think it’s your right to know what it was like. I still support freedom and I believe that it is not our place to judge other people’s choices, but it is important to stand up for those who often do not speak up out of powerlessness, wrote the actress on social media.

The support for the Women’s Strike mentioned by Kamińska consisted in supporting the protests after the death of 30-year-old Iza from Pszczyna. “It could have been any of us – your daughter, mother, friend, wife… It could have been YOU! We can’t care about everything,” the actress wrote at the time.
