Sean Stewart was just 11 years old when he had sex with his 15-year-old neighbor Emma Webster. Nine months later, he was given a day off from school to be present for the birth of his son Ben Louis on January 20, 1998 – just one month after Sean’s 12th birthday.

Sean Stewart’s life is a far cry from the promises he made when his son was born. At the time he was living in Bedford with his single mother Theresa, who was 38 at the time, and had seven children by three different men. Emma lived next door with her mother Shirley, then 46, and her father Ray, 49, who was an unemployed forklift driver at the time.

After giving birth, Sean told the Daily Mail: ‘I hope to remain close friends with Emma for as long as possible. For a time, Sean continued to attend Margaret Beaufort Grammar School in Riseley, but left Bedford in his teens. He has since lived on the south coast and has spent the last few years at various addresses in the St Leonards and Hastings area of Sussex.

Emma planned to return to school after the couple sold their story to a Sunday newspaper. When asked three years ago about Sean Stewart, she only said: “I haven’t seen Sean in three or four years, and he hasn’t seen Ben since. He is in prison for theft and robbery.
