According to Wirtualne Media, on Monday, May 13, 2024, members of the National Broadcasting Council voted on the application to extend the license for the TVN Style television channel. According to prof. Tadeusz Kowalski, who sits on the National Council, the application was rejected. The media expert was to ask the head of the National Broadcasting Council to justify the rejection of the application. Maciej Świrski allegedly replied that he had no such obligation and would not do it.

According to reports from the industry portal, the following people voted to reject the application to discuss the TVN Style license: chairman Maciej Świrski, vice-chairmen Agnieszka Glapiak and Hanna Karp. Marzena Paczuska abstained from voting. And the only person in favor of accepting the application was prof. Tadeusz Kowalski. The next meeting of the National Broadcasting Council will be held on May 22, and only then can there be a vote on extending the license for the lifestyle station TVN. The current license is valid until July 28.
The first news about the delay in renewing the license was recorded in February. At that time, the chairman of the National Broadcasting Council referred to the station’s monitoring, which showed that the channel broadcast too few documentary and journalistic programs. However, deviations from the concession provisions were not greater than about 4 percent. Nowadays, it is sometimes difficult to classify a specific program into a given genre.
Now the regulator will carry out monitoring again to make sure that the broadcaster complies with the license. However, prof. Tomasz Kowalski said in April that “monitoring should in no way suspend the decision to extend the license.” He also added that this cannot be the only criterion deciding whether to extend or not extend a license. Moreover, the industry portal informs that the lawyers of TVN Warner Bros. Discovery has already sent a third reminder to the regulator on this matter.

However, in recent days, the station’s new program entitled “Agata’s Confrontations”, hosted by Agata Młynarska. People with different and sometimes extreme views are invited to the talk show. In the last episode, different ways of raising children were discussed. One of the interlocutors was Sylwia, who supports the use of penalties and appropriate discipline at home. At one point, she admitted how she addresses her children, which neither the program’s opponent nor the viewers liked.
I told my children: if they don’t like it, please pack your bags and goodbye – I say – there’s an orphanage, you can leave – said Sylwia, who uses kindergarten.
A post announcing the episode was shared on Instagram and it caused a huge uproar. Internet users have not remained indifferent to these statements and accuse the station that programs such as “Agata’s Confrontations” should not be broadcast at all. This program is a total failure #tvnstyle. I haven’t seen such crap for a long time, published just to increase viewership.
Poland has been suffering from huge divisions for years. This show just exacerbates that. Horrible, bad and unnecessary!
I believe that this program should not exist at all, the women invited to the program are completely extreme and are either sick in one way or the other.
