It’s been 15 years of Męskie Granie. The artistic, intense element that will sweep over Poland in the summer has an incredible history!

On May 18, 2010, the one song that started it all was presented. Representatives of three different generations met on stage – Wojciech Waglewski, Maciej Maleñczuk and Abradab – and their song “All musicians are warriors” went down in history. Another one, the 15th (!) Mêskie Granie, is ahead of us. What awaits us this year?

Breakthrough Men’s Play

Today, when we talk about Męskie Granie, we do not have to explain to anyone what this is one of the most important musical events in Poland and why we cannot imagine summer without it. Every year the pool of tickets increases, but tickets still sell out in the blink of an eye. Sold out tickets are the hallmark of Mêskie Granie. Plus the best artists of the Polish music scene. Simply a project that runs like a well-oiled machine.

This is how it is now. And what was it like at the beginning? Let’s go back for a moment to 2010, when few people believed in the success of this venture. Most were convinced that it would be impossible to create a project based only on Polish artists, without a few diverse scenes. And yet. It turned out that the Polish music scene is extremely rich and everyone can find something for themselves there.

A festival to look forward to

15 years ago, the idea of organizing a ticketed event was also unique. We don’t remember it anymore, but at that time most open-air concerts took place, for example, as part of city days and were free. Męskie Granie brought a breath of freshness. There were never any compromises.

This unique festival tour in Poland is organized in the form of an annual summer series of concerts with the participation of Polish performers. The exception is 2020, when due to the pandemic, there was only one concert broadcast online. But let’s go back to the very beginnings, i.e. to the single “All musicians are warriors”. Representatives of three different generations met on stage – Wojciech Waglewski, Maciej Maleñczuk and Abradab – and magic happened. The piece was an announcement of a series of concerts. The role of the first artistic director was taken by the already mentioned Wojciech Waglewski and it was thanks to him that many alternative artists and musicians appeared on the Męskie Granie stage, who were not widely known, but should have been! In 2010, seven concerts were watched by a total of 23,000 people. viewers. And so the adventure of a traveling concert, the first of its kind in Poland, began.

Until 2014, the festival was supervised by artistic directors. In 2012, i.e. during the third edition of the project, Katarzyna Nosowska became the artistic director of the project. The following year, rapper OSTR joined it. In 2014, Męskie Granie Orkiestra was established instead of the director. The group has a different composition every year. She is responsible for the anthem of the event – an annual single promoting the tour. Since this memorable edition, the group has been performing a special concert, during which you can hear many covers of Polish songs and, of course, the annual anthem of the entire event.

Mêskie Granie is about people

Męskie Granie is the culmination of the careers of many respected musicians, as well as a chance for beginning artists and bands. In 2016, an additional Stage ¯ appeared on the route for the first time, where young and talented performers performed. Performing on a festival stage is a dream of many people. No wonder, the amazing atmosphere, emotions and simply good sound attracts crowds. Męskie Granie is, above all, about people and a guarantee of the highest quality music. Every year, fans want more good songs and the Męskie Granie team rises to the challenge. There are more concerts, we listen to catchy songs throughout the next year, until the next edition.

The musicians associated under the banner of Męskie Granie are creating an increasingly larger family. The creators themselves call the route “colony”. They’re having a great time and it shows! In every performance, in every song. Even though the route is constantly evolving, its idea has not changed. This courage in combining genres, styles and musical generations pays off. There are more and more fans every year. During the six concerts in the first edition, 23,000 people were present. viewers, and in 2023 the tour was the second largest musical event in the country. And what will it be like this year?
