Mark Damon is dead. Actor and film producer known, among others, from “The Fall of the House of Usher” died on May 12, 2024 in Los Angeles.

Mark Damon, real name Alan Harris, was 91 years old. His death was announced to Deadline.com by the actor’s associates, who passed away just a few days after director Roger Corman, who died on Thursday. He made “The Fall of the House of Usher”. The role in the film earned Damon a Golden Globe for Most Promising Newcomer.

Born in 1933 in Chicago, Damon began his acting career in 1956. He shot many films in Italy. He was one of the stars of the spaghetti western genre. In the 1960s and 1970s, he starred in such titles as: “Saint Unwillingly”, “The Young Racers”, “The Shortest Day”. “Black Holiday” or “Dio, Come Ti Amo!”.

During his stay in Italy, he became interested in film distribution and sales. In 1977, he founded the Producers Sales Organization to sell American films to international distributors. He is credited with helping create a vibrant independent film sales market. As a producer, he was nominated for an Oscar many times. The titles he worked on in this role include: “Monster”, for which he received the statuette, as well as “The Ship”, “The Neverending Story”, “Wild Orchid”, “9 1/2 Weeks”, “The Jungle Book”.

Damon’s last film as a producer was the 2019 war drama The Last Full Measure, directed by Todd Robinson. The film starred Sebastian Stan, Christopher Plummer, William Hurt, Ed Harris, Samuel L. Jackson, Peter Fonda, LisaGay Hamilton and many others.
