Remigiusz Mróz, or crime literature, surprises his fans again. His latest work, “Paderborn”, continues the blood-curdling story begun in “Langer”, now available in the form of a radio play with an all-star cast at Audioteka. “When I was finishing writing ‘Langer’ I knew two things: first, I didn’t want to write a sequel. Second, I had to do it.” – admits Mróz.

“Langer”, a spin-off of the series about Joanna Chyłka
“Langer”, published a year ago, gained enormous popularity and became a hit both in bookstores, libraries and as an audiobook. This book is a spin-off of the series about Joanna Chyłka. “Langer” focuses on the character of Piotr Langer, who from an antagonistic role in the Chyłka series became the main character.
“Paderborn” continues Langer’s story, introducing a new serial killer – the Butcher of the Oder. “Piotr Langer found a way to achieve impunity. For years he had been imitating other serial killers, imitating their way of doing things, copying their modus operandi to the letter.” – explains Mróz. In this novel, Nina Pokora, the former wife of prosecutor Olgierd Paderborn, becomes another victim of a brutal murderer. The woman experiences true horror as she is imprisoned by the Butcher of the Oder.
Mróz didn’t want to, but he had to write a sequel
In the afterword of “Paderborn”, Mróz reveals his feelings towards writing this sequel: “When I was finishing writing ‘Langer’, I knew two things: firstly, I did not want to write a sequel. Secondly, I had to do it. My reluctance was due to the fact that I was overloaded with cruelty. , violence and generally speaking research related to serial killers and what is in their psyche. The compulsion came from the fact that I didn’t want to…’. These words leave readers wondering what prompted the author to develop Langer’s story further.
