However, those who swore undying love and fidelity before the altar had a somewhat difficult time parting, especially if faith played an important role in their lives. Some, however, managed to obtain an annulment of their marriage, i.e. the so-called church divorce. Who is included in this group? You may be surprised.

His first wife was his school crush, Grażyna Adamus, with whom he got married in the late 1960s. Their relationship did not stand the test of time and ended when he entered into an affair with Halina Żytkowiak, with whom he had a son, Krzysztof Igor. He then divorced and got married again, this time in the Orthodox rite. Only when this relationship broke down and he wanted to marry Ewa did he decide to annul the marriage. During the trial in the bishop’s court, he took the entire blame on himself, admitting to numerous betrayals. – We’ve been waiting for this for 2 years. I took the blame by admitting that I had cheated on my wife with other women. My hearing in the bishop’s court lasted 1.5 hours. The marriage was annulled and Ewa and I returned fully to the bosom of the Church – then honestly in one of the interviews.

As it turns out, Jacek Borkowski also decided to take a similar step in 2009, but he had a slightly different idea to achieve his goal. During the “church divorce” from his first wife Elżbieta Jasińska, the main reason given was that he was… a homosexual person. It was, of course, a lie, but the bishop ruling in the case was not aware of this and took him at his word, especially since the actor had already had not one, but two failed marriages behind him. After the annulment of his first relationship, he could easily marry another beloved, but this relationship did not survive the test of time and ended in separation.
Few people know that he also annulled the wedding with the mother of his first-born daughter, Żaneta, in order to marry Weronika Marczuk. When they divorced in 2007 and Edyta, 26 years his junior, appeared in his life, he wanted to do it again. This time to no avail. It is worth mentioning that while obtaining a “church divorce” twice is a big problem and is only possible in exceptional cases, the annulment of a marriage that has been going on for many years is, one might say, a common case.
