He became the first winner in the history of “The Voice of Poland”. Today he is 37 years old. How’s he doing?

Damian Ukeje was born on August 26, 1986 in Szczecin. He took his first steps on stage, performing with the blues band Jerry’s Hole Band. In the meantime, he tried his hand at various entertainment programs, including: in , thanks to which he became the vocalist of the Fat Belly Family group. – The band and I tried our hand at many places, they weren’t programs of this type, rather rock festivals where we achieved greater or lesser success, but unfortunately nothing else happened – in an interview with the InfoMuza portal.

Participation in “The Voice of Poland” opened the door to his career. How did Damian Ukeje’s career develop?

2011 turned out to be a real breakthrough in his career. It was then that he decided to apply for a casting for the first edition of the program. Although he did not have very high expectations, his performance of the song “Use somebody” from the Kings of Leon repertoire delighted not only the audience and spectators, but also the jurors.

Although he turned over three of the four seats, he decided to continue his adventure with the format under Nergal’s wing. However, he did not expect that he would reach the finals and ultimately become the winner. – I’m glad that something like this happened, but I had absolutely no intention of winning – he admitted later.

After almost a year after these events, the artist made his debut on the recording market with the album “UKEJE”, which was ranked 44th on the list of the best-selling albums in Poland and brought him, among others, nomination for Fryderyk. Although he achieved incredible success and most of his songs became hits, he did not strive to be in the limelight. He regularly gave concerts and worked on new material, which he presented to fans only in 2016 in the form of the next album “UZO”.

13 years have passed since Ukeje’s debut. What’s up with the winner of the first edition of “The Voice of Poland” today?

Although Ukeja is not much talked about in the media, he is undoubtedly one of the participants of talent shows who made good use of their “five minutes”. He still regularly meets fans during concerts and creates new songs. Since 2019, he has also been a member of the “Moje Boskie Buenos” project, in which he sings songs from the repertoire of Kora and the band Maanam, and is currently also on the “I am Rock’n’Roll” tour, performing the greatest hits of his idols.
